Charles Wallace Rawson, 77, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2009 at Innovis Health, Fargo, North Dakota. Wally was born on April 5, 1932 to Claude and Sue (Maynard) in Pettibone, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Pettibone, graduating high school in 1950. As a young man he served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps in Korea from October 1951 to October 25, 1953. Wally was united in marriage to Luella Dalbol on March 10, 1952 in Moorhead, MN. Together they raised five children, while having a career at Amoco for thirty-eight years His work transferred him to many places, Wally retired in 1992 and they moved to Detroit Lakes in 1996. Wally was a devoted husband of fifty-seven years, and loving father. He had a zest for life in everything he did; hunting, boating, fishing, singing and playing his mandolin, traveling and camping with Luella, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wally loved to work in his workshop and always had a project underway. He shared his love of Jesus by living Christianity openly. Wally had a passion for the JUMP (Jamaican United Mission Partnership) and led many teams to Jamaica to build schools and libraries in the mountains of Jamaica and sharing Godchr(39)s word through his music and works. Wally is survived by his wife, Luella Rawson of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; five children, Ricky (Peggy) Rawson of Kemp, Texas; Patty Swaney of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Terri (Ted) Young of Buffalo, Minnesota; Tony (Cheryl) Rawson of Chisago, Minnesota; Becky Rawson of Watertown, South Dakota; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bonnie (Oscar) Lenit of Stewart, Florida; Colleen (Vern) Gores of Lady Lake, Florida; Rosemary Rawson of Tucson, Arizona; Arlene (Merle) Flanders of Robinson, North Dakota; numerous nieces and nephews. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, David Freidt, and sister, Claudia Leone.
