Frank Brolin, 84, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Frank was born on November 21, 1924 in rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota to Oscar and Mildred Shores Brolin. He grew up and attended Country School there. He served in the United States Army during WWII, serving in France and Germany. Following his discharge from the service he moved to Fargo, ND, where he drove truck. He was united in marriage to Alice Severson in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Detroit Lakes, where he worked for the city light plant. He worked for the city of Detroit Lakes for over 30 years, later becoming Chief Engineer. He retired in 1984. He later was united in marriage to Jean Sharp. They made their home near lake Melissa in rural Detroit Lakes. Frank liked to hunt and fish. He also was an avid reader and liked to mow lawn and blow snow. Frank is survived by his wife, Jean; three step children; eight step grandchildren; one step great grandson Frank was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Alice, one brother, Robert Brolin, one sister, Christine Lee.
