Mildred J. Vizenor, 96, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Mildred was born on April 26, 1913 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John and Annie (Haslerud) Landgren.By the age of seven the family moved to Erie Township in rural Detroit, Minnesota. Mildred attended District 26 Erie School. On the way to school and back she often heard and saw wolves, who werenchr(39)t as frightening to her as some of the neighborhood dogs. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes and has been a member of Bakke Lutheran Church for many years. On March 15, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leo Vizenor. They resided in the Detroit Lakes area their entire lives. She was a homemaker who devoted her entire life to her family. Gardening, canning, cooking, and watching her bachelor buttons, four ochr(39) clocks, and moss roses bloom in her garden as well as the beautiful trees on the north side of Detroit Mountain gave her a great sense of belonging. Leo passed away in July of 1984. Shortly after his death she moved to Pleasant View Apartments, where she lived for fourteen years. She moved to St. Marychr(39)s Nursing Center in 1998. Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Lorraine Anderson of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; Jeanette Streander of Dowingtown, Pennsylvania; one son, Larry (Teresa) Vizenor of Marinette, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Renita Moschitta, Lynette Martin, Steven Streander, Nyle Anderson, Rhys Anderson, Lowell Vizenor, Louis Vizenor, and Tara McQuillan; ten great-grandchildren, Brittany Tompkins, Ashley Martin, Emily, Owen, and Olivia McQuillan, Taylor, Alexa, and Gabriel Anderson, and Noak and Amelia Anderson. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo, two brothers, Ralph Doyle and Arnold Landgren, sister-in- law, Betty Landgren and son-in-law, Noel Anderson.
