Thomas Michael Mahlum, 47, Fargo, North Dakota; passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at his home. Tom was born on July 18, 1962, the son of Virgil and Patricia (Monson) Mahlum, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He attended Lake Park High School. After high school, Tom served in the United States Air Force. Tom worked for Butler Machinery, RDO and Concord Environmental Equipment. Tom was a member of Cormorant Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, Minnesota. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as tinkering on his computer. In recent years, Tom spent a lot of time volunteering at the VA Center in Fargo. He loved to spend time with the veterans and listen to all of their fascinating stories. Tom was an active member of the Recovery Worship Center in Fargo. He was a dear son, brother and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed. Thomas is survived by his parents, Virgil and Patricia Mahlum of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; one sister, Lynae (Parish) Jones of Gonzales, Louisiana; grandmother, Mary Monson of Fargo, North Dakota; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Twyla (Lyden) and infant son.
