Dorothy May Robinson, 94, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on October 23, 1914 to John and Violet May (Goodgame) Pike, recent immigrants from England. The family moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1927 where Dot continued her education which included the Robert Harkness Music Course. Dot shared her musical talents in many ways both in singing and as a pianist. She sang on "The Farmer's Hour" on CFRN station in Edmonton in her teens and early 20s. She was the pianist at Edmonton Pentecostal Church for more than 25 years, sang in a ladies quartet at church and on the radio, taught music at Temple Bible College, worked for a funeral home where she played for many funerals, and taught private music lessons. She also followed the vocation of a seamstress and worked for a bridal shop doing alterations on wedding gowns and other clothing. In her younger years, if anyone had a party, they would say, "Invite Dot!" She was the life of the party and quite a "cut-up." She would imitate Baby Snooks, who was a popular female comedian in those days. As a young girl, Dot was her mother's helper when their family had missionaries, visiting ministers, and church functions. When Dot married, her mother"?s mantle then fell onto her. Dot was a wonderful cook, housekeeper, and hostess, as she loved to entertain. Dot married Henry Plastow on November 3, 1939 in Edmonton, Alberta and they had three children. They moved to Los Angeles, California where Dot became the pianist for the Immanuel Christian Assembly. They made another move to La Mirada, California where she was the pianist at the La Mirada Assembly Church. Henry passed away January 5, 1980. After his death, Dot moved to Chilliwack, British Columbia. Here she met and married Reverend Ernie Robinson on December 30, 1988. They resided there until he passed away on July 4, 1994. After Ernie's death, she moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and a sister, Marj Hislop. She is survived by her 3 children: David Plastow of Mesa, AZ; Dotty (Marlan) Ramsey of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Marilynn (Robert) Halverson of Audubon, MN. Other descendants surviving are 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her brother, John (Audrey) Pike; and her 3 sisters: Ruth (Reo) Stenson, Kay Gustavson, and Violet Crane. Living for and serving the Lord was priority and her life revealed it.
