Elwood J. Lund

Elwood J. Lund 91, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Wednesday October 7, 2009 at St. Marychr(39)s Nursing Center, Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Elwood Lund was born on March 30, 1918 in Bricelyn, MN to Edward and Louise Katzung Lund. He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Bricelyn High School in 1936. He then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where he earned a Bachelors Degree. He was united in marriage to Madeline Kittelson on November 27, 1942 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he was stationed in the Army Air Corp. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1945. Following his discharge they returned to Bricelyn, MN, where Elwood worked for the State Bank of Bricelyn. In 1964 they moved to Shelly, MN, where he served as bank President of the Bremer Bank there. He retired from the bank in 1983. Over the next years they spent summers at their lake home in Longville, MN and winters in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to Lincoln Park Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes in 2002. Elwood was an avid sports fan who enjoyed pheasant hunting and downhill skiing. He is survived by three sons; Brian (Penny) Lund, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Tom (Tenlee) Lund, of Longville, MN, and Greg (Bonnie) Lund, of Twin Valley, MN, six Grandchildren; eleven Great Grandchildren; and special friend Luella Gandrud. He was preceded in death by his wife; Madeline (2003), his parents, one brother; Lew Lund, and one sister; Nedra Jorgenson.
