Philip R. Schons

Philip R. Schons age 67, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday Oct. 23, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. Philip Schons was born on September 24, 1942 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Gregory and Doris Vizenor Schons. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes. On July 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to Janet Green in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in rural Detroit Lakes and Philip worked as a cook at the Erie Jr. Restaurant in Detroit Lakes. In 1963 they moved to Union City, CA, where he worked in a steel mill. They moved back to Detroit Lakes in 1966, where he owned and operated his own trucking business for 37 years. Following his retirement he worked for the Pelican River Watershed District operating a weed cutting machine. He was currently driving for D.L. Express Trucking in Detroit Lakes. Philip is survived by his wife Janet, one daughter; Rachel Nelson, of Detroit Lakes, MN, one son; Tim (Deanna) Schons, of Detroit Lakes, MN, five grandchildren; Jesse(Jessica) Schons, Alysia Schons, Nathan Schons, Nicole Synstelien, and Ryan Nelson, one great grandson; Matthew Schons, one sister; LaVaun Braun, of Detroit Lakes, MN. Philip was preceded in death by, two sons; Daniel and Matthew Schons, his parents, and one brother; Theodore Schons.
