Charles U. Senn

Charles U. Senn 72 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday October 27, 2009 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND. Charles Ulrich Senn was born February 14, 1937 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Clarence and Alice Olson Senn. He grew up and attended school in Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School. Chuck installed carpeting and flooring, and also did carpentry work in the Pelican Rapids area and later in Fertile, MN. He moved to Detroit Lakes in 1974, where he worked for Detroit Paint and Glass for 18 years, before retiring due to poor health. In recent years he and his wife Cheryl have enjoyed their time spent with Dustin and Hailey Redick, who they have lovingly cared for and mentored. Chuck served in the National Guard for 23 years. He was currently serving as Chaplain of the John Bridges American Legion Post 15 in Detroit Lakes. He was a past president of the Eagles Club in Detroit Lakes. He enjoyed woodworking. Things he has made include cedar chests, dressers, and lawn ornaments. He also loved to play cards. Chuck is survived by his wife, Cheryl, four sons; Chris Senn, of Bemidji, MN; Stephen (Deb)Senn, of Ellsworth, Iowa; Bob (Tammy) Senn, of Alden, Iowa, and Jeff Senn, of Bemidji, MN; four daughterschr(39) Michelle Funk, of Bemidji, MN; Kathy (Rob) Raitz, of Bemidji, MN; Colleen (Kevin) Bitker, of Bemidji, MN; and Melodee (Derrick) Harder, of Bemidji, MN. Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews, and one sister, Lois (Olai) Heden, of Detroit Lakes, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Michael and Gregory Senn, and an infant sister; Phyllis.
