Harriet F. Somdahl age 72 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sunday November 8, 2009 at St. Marychr(39)s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. Harriet was born on December 15, 1936 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Henry and Edna Iverson Grossman. She grew up and attended country school in rural Audubon, MN and graduated from Audubon High School in 1954. She worked at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Lake Park, MN and later attended Detroit Lakes Business College. Harriet then worked as the Audubon School secretary for the next 12 years. She was united in marriage to Roy Somdahl on July 30, 1967 at St. Peterchr(39)s Lutheran Church in rural Audubon. They made their home in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin for a short time before moving to Detroit Lakes, MN. Harriet spent the next number of years raising her children and taking care of the home. She later worked for the grocery stores in Detroit Lakes. Harriet enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, gardening, puzzles, and traveling. She also loved to bake Norwegian foods and cookies at Christmas. She collected salt and pepper shakers, and was said to have over 300 sets. Spending time with her Grand daughter was very special to Harriet. Harriet is survived by her husband, Roy; one daughter, Faye Somdahl, of West Fargo, ND; one son, Allen Somdahl, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one granddaughter, Keli Somdahl, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one brother, Duane (Phyllis) Grossman, of Audubon, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dale Grossman, and step father, Alfred Olson.
