Jeffrey J. Kohler, 41, of Audubon, Minnesota, died on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Jeff was born on February 19, 1968 the son of John and Sharon (Brick) Kohler in Martinez, California. As a young child, his family moved to Audubon, Minnesota. Jeff was raised and educated in Audubon, graduating in high school in 1986. He worked various jobs in the area throughout his life. Jeff was diagnosed with ALS on November 21, 2002. He made the best of each day, despite all of the challenges he faced. Jeff would say, "God gave me another day and I thanked him for that. I tried to make the most of each and every day." Jeff enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and hunting. He also had a great appreciation for the outdoors. He was a simple man and lived a simple life to the fullest. The family of Jeff would like to thank Art Kohler III for being the brother, Jeff never had and to the staff at Emmanuel Nursing Home for making Jeffchr(39)s stay at Emmanuel feel like home and becoming his second family. Jeff is survived by his father, John Kohler of Audubon, Minnesota; sister, Annette (Bill) Herdzina of Ramsey, Minnesota; nieces, Jackie (Justin) Peterson, Amber Herdzina; nephew, Billy Herdzina; great niece, Alexa Peterson; grandmother, Marie Kohler of Mokelumne Hill, California; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, Sharon and his beloved dogs, Bart and Maggie.
