Veronica K. Myrom

Vera K. Myrom age 97 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Veronica Katherine Heckenkamp was born to Antone and Phloma Schneider Heckenkamp on July 22, 1912 in Quincy, Illinois. Vera quit school in the eighth grade to help out her family. She went to work selling hats. Vera became manager of the hat store in Quincy, Illinois and later was given a promotion to move to Chicago and manage a hat shop there. This is where she met and married her husband Ernest Alfred Myrom on February 12, 1971. After they retired, they moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota where they spent the remainder of their years. Vera enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, and knitting. She loved the winters that they spent in Nevada. Her church was very important to her. She will always be remembered for her fast wit and sense of humor. She is survived by her husband Ernie,one sister Betty Tully, of Quincy, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
