Nina C. Johnson

Nina C. Johnson, 81, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, Minnesota. Nina was born on January 25, 1928 the daughter of Nickoloi and Hilda (Hansen) Nelson in the rural Toad Lake Township of Becker County, Minnesota. She attended country school in the Toad Lake Township at District 73. Nina was united in marriage to Duane O. Johnson on July 3, 1947 at First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They made their home in Detroit Lakes area on Lake Sallie and Nina worked as a cook in District 22 lunch program for many years. During her retirement years, Nina enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, embroidering and especially enjoyed walking through the woods near their home. Nina is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Duane O. Johnson of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; four children, Duane (Tammie) Johnson Jr. of Lengby, Minnesota; Charlotte (William) Stoltzman of Richmond, Minnesota; Milo (Dianne) Johnson of New York Mills, Minnesota; Cindy (Charles Brown) Dibley of Audubon, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Kirstin (Jorge) Morales, Wade (Amber) Johnson, Terry (Kim) Stoltzman, Jason (Barb) Stoltzman, Tally Fernholz, Mina Johnson, Cassie (Chris) Dagenais, Eric Dibley and Nathan (Julie Hedlund) Dibley; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Nick (Virginia) Nelson of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Sigrid Wacker of Perham, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and eight sisters.
