Marian E. Carrier, 79, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, Minnesota. Marian Elaine Steen was born in Morris, Minnesota on April 28, 1930 to John and Amanda Steen. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church of Morris. She graduated from Morris High school in 1948 and was crowned Homecoming Queen that year. Marian was employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Morris for 6 ½ years. She worked as a telephone operator and also in the business office. Marian was united in marriage to Delmar A. Carrier of Graceville, Minnesota, on July 26, 1954 in Morris, Minnesota. They lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota until April of 1956 when they moved to Detroit Lakes. Marian was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was a member of Circle and The Neighborhood Homemakers Group. She was also a former American Legion Queen. In her younger years, she enjoyed being outside working with flower gardens and had a variety of little hobbies. Marian enjoyed reading, listening to music, being with friends and family members, grandchildren, and family gatherings. Marian is survived by her three sons; Thomas Carrier of Fargo, North Dakota, Robert (Lorrie Seitz) Carrier of Bemidji, Minnesota, and David (Shannon Garry) Carrier of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, four grandchildren; Matthew (Kelly) Carrier of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Andrea Carrier of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Stacie (Adan Abarca) Carrier of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, and Amber (Kyle Schulke) Carrier of Bemidji, Minnesota, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers; Frank Steen of Alexandria, Minnesota, and Les Steen of San Diego, California, one sister; Madeline Berglund of Henning, Minnesota, several nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delmar (1991), one brother, Lee Steen and one sister Gladys Steen.
