Richard C. Berdahl

Richard C. Berdahl age 80 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Richard Clayton Berdahl was born on August 25, 1929 in Fargo, North Dakota to Clayton and Mae Anderson Berdahl. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1947. He then served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he started his career in television, working for KFYR in Bismarck, ND and later for WBBM in Chicago, Ill. Richard moved back to Fargo where he worked for WDAY from 1963-1982. His last three years at WDAY he served as operations manager. Following his retirement he moved to Strawberry Lake near Detroit Lakes. Richard loved living at the Lake, and enjoyed time spent with his neighbors. He also loved his Golden Retrievers, fishing, and snowmobiling. Richard is survived by his sister, Janet (Tom) Aasgaard, of Plymouth, MN, and two nephews, Steven and Kevin Aasgaard. He was preceded in death by his parents.
