Floyd A. Warling, 88, rural Lake Park, Minnesota, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at his home. Floyd was born to Bernhard and Caroline (Nelson) Warling on September 13, 1921 in the Hamden Township of Becker County, Minnesota. He attended country school, district 41 in Hamden Township until the eighth grade and then went on to graduate from Lake Park High School. Floyd was united in marriage to Vernette Christoffers on October 25, 1945 at Lake Park Lutheran Church. God blesses their marriage with four children. They made their home on the Warling family farm where Floyd farmed until he was no longer able. He was president of the lot-a-wata C.B. Club, board member of the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association, served on the Hamden Township Board and was a Nobel Grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Detroit Lakes. In his spare time he enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors. Floyd could fix anything and would make any part he could not find. Floyd is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Vernette Warling, rural Lake Park, MN; four children, Albin (Carol) Warling of Audubon, MN; Lavonne (Michael) Smith of Audubon, MN; Mavis Drawdy of Brookings, SD; Bernhard (Ann) Warling of Merrifield, MN; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd will be dearly missed by all. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edmund, Gerhard, Iver and one sister, Myrtle Walther. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Odd Fellows (118 W. Holmes St. Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).
