Dawn L. Jonas age 60 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sunday January 24, 2010 at her residence. Dawn Jonas was born on October 14, 1949 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Ralph and Beryl Goodspeed Hektner. Dawn grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN and in 1967 graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo, ND. She married Stanley Jonas in 1967 and they farmed near Casselton, ND. In 1986 she moved to Fargo and attended NDSU where she received a Bachelorchr(39)s Degree and later a Masterchr(39)s Degree in Counseling. In 1998 she moved to Detroit Lakes and started her career with Lutheran Social Services as a counselor, where she was presently working. Dawn loved the lake, working puzzles, and time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed people and making a difference in their lives. She also had a knack for knowing just the right thing to say. She liked to cook and carry on family traditions, and always had that twinkle in her eye. She is survived by one daughter, Jaime (Tom) Nannenga, of Wyndmere, ND; two sons; Scott (Theresa Babak) Jonas, of Rochester, MN, and Chris (Beth) Jonas, of Duluth, MN; Five Grandchildren, Trey and Tanner Jonas, Madie Nannenga, Jacob Jonas, and Alex Benson; two sisters, Randee (Don) Frommer, of Bend, OR, and Gail (Bill) Fellers, of Irvine, CA; Parents, Ralph and Beryl Hektner, of Moorhead, MN; sister in law, Kathy Hektner, of Mitchell, SD, and Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Neil Hektner.
