Arlo Dale Weimer age 93 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday Feb. 16, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Arlo Weimer was born on Feb. 20, 1916 in Harris, Iowa to Jacob and Pearl Duer Weimer. He grew up and attended school in Hartley, Iowa, graduating from high school there. On April 12, 1936 he was united in marriage to Alvena Williams in Worthington, MN. They made their home in Hartley, Iowa where he worked as a salesman for DeLaval Separator. He served in the United States Army from 1944-1945. Shortly after his discharge, they moved to Spencer, Iowa where he continued working for DeLaval. In 1949 they moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where he worked for the Allis Chalmers dealer. In 1951 they moved to Detroit Lakes and he again worked for DeLaval until 1959 when he purchased Long Bridge Resort in Detroit Lakes. He operated the resort for the next 10 years and also developed the Long Bridge Mobile Court. He later worked in Real Estate, specializing in resort sales. In 1996 he was united in marriage to Shirley Meyer. Arlo was a 52 year member of the Masonic Lodge, a 35 year member of the El Zagel Shrine, and a 57 year member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son; Dean (Marci) Weimer, of Hitterdal, MN; two daughters, Dureen (Thomas) Schwegman, of Brainerd, MN, and Marcida (Michael) Patridge, of Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Thais Olhausen, of Sioux Falls, SD; one stepson, Randi (Katie) Meyer, of Valley City, ND; three stepdaughters, Sandi (Henry) Bruns, of Valley City, ND, Bonnie Grafing, of Valley City, ND, and Marci (Dean) Weimer, of Hitterdal, MN. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alvena (1994), and one brother Kenneth Weimer.
