Edythe E. Braun

Edythe (Reep) (Holmen)Braun 86, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, went to be with the Lord on Friday February 19, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Edythe Elnora Enget was born September 26, 1923 to Jon and Anna (Hendrickson) Enget in Audubon, Minnesota. She was a twin, the last in a family of ten. She attended country school around Audubon up to the 9th grade. Edythe married the love of her life, Arvid Reep in Audubon on April 15, 1942. Arvid was killed while working for Northern Pacific Railroad. She then married Ed Holmen and resided in Horace, North Dakota. Edythe was a part of the Horace Lutheran Church and very active in school activities with her children. She later married Ray Braun. Edythe loved her kids, grandkids and the lakes. She loved to fish and cook for people, as evidenced by the many cooking jobs she held; including housekeeper at the Graystone complex in Detroit Lakes, Nanny, housekeeper, Lutefisk factory worker, cook, wild rice fields, potato harvester, Pikes Bay, Silver Line of Moorhead, mother and wife. Edythe and Ray resided at Lake Maud for many years and attended Augustana Lutheran Church. Edythe loved to play board games like Aggravation and showed no mercy to anyone in her way. She also loved to play pool, cards and dice. Edythe, Ray and their friends use to go on the poker runs held in the Detroit Lakes and Audubon area. She spent her later years at Emmanuel Nursing Home under their excellent care. Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, step-father Joe Marion, her siblings; Francis Batke, Mayme Waroff, Florence Nelson, Maurice Enget, Isabelle Gullick, Hilder "Blanche" Simcox, Ambrose "Mike" Enget and her twin sister, Eva Christianson. Edythe is survived by six children, Ginny(Duane)Walker of Hoople, ND; Richard(Marilyn)Reep ofMissoula, MT; Gary (Jewel)Reep of Lolo, MT; Michael(Jeri) Reep ofDetroit Lakes, MN; Constance Holmen ofHorace, ND; Deborah(Randy) Eaton of Colorado Springs, CO; sixteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Foundation, Augustana Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran Church. A memorial service will also be held later this summer.
