Roger M. Hillman, 81, of Ramsey, Minnesota, formerly of Detroit Lake, Minnesota, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Minneapolis VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Roger was born on August 29, 1928 the son of Martin and Gladys (Geesa) Hillman in Ashland, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school in 1947, Spooner, WI. Roger enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1947 and served until October 1951 as a radio operator. Roger attended Northern Colorado College. He was united in marriage to Alyce Warter on December 26, 1962 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, MN. He worked for Swift Company in procurement and sales in Detroit Lakes, MN. Roger was transferred to New Rockford, ND in 1964, before returning to Detroit Lakes in 1969. He was also a turkey farmer and later in his career, Roger was the Detroit Lakes City Assessor and Mahnomen County Assessor. Roger and Alyce moved to Ramsey, MN in 2008. Roger was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Elks, Eagles, Eastern Star, Shriners and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and traveling with his wife, Alyce. Roger is survived by his wife, Alyce Hillman of Ramsey, MN; three sons, Roger (Anne) Hillman, Jr. of Billings, MT; Terry Ouart of Dilworth, MN; Kenneth (Dawneld) Ouart of Zimmerman, MN; two daughters, Kim Hillman of Missoula, MT; Janelle (Dan) Disrud of Champlin, MN; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
