Verneil C. Beto

Verneil C. Beto, 82, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Bethany Homes Memory Care Unit, Fargo, ND. Verneil Corrine Lois was born February 14, 1928 to Edward and Alice (Wik) Wahouske in Amenia, ND. In 1929 Verneil moved with her family to Osage, MN. On June 14, 1947 she married Amos G. Beto. The couple made their home and raised their family in Detroit Lakes, MN. Verneil was employed at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN, First National Bank, Woolworths and Pamida, all in Detroit Lakes, MN. She attended and graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing program at the Detroit Lakes Area Vocational Technical School in 1985. She loved music, dancing, reading and looking for four leaf clovers. She was active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Church Circles. She was devoted to her husband and children and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her gentle, loving spirit and quiet determination will be missed by all. Verneil is survived by her three sons; Allen (Nancy) Beto, Moorhead, MN, Merlin (Cathleen) Beto, Walcott, ND, and Mark Beto, Glyndon, MN, three daughters; Vonnie (Donnie) Stenger, Detroit Lakes, MN, Arlis (Cindy Dahl) Beto, Dilworth, MN and Nancy (Scott App) Schwartz Frazee, MN, twenty-seven grandchildren, (including spouses), Thirty great- grandchildren, (including spouses), and four great grandchildren. Verneil was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Amos, her parents, a sister, a brother, a daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and a great granddaughter. Verneilchr(39)s family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Bethany Homes Memory Care Unit, including "Pups," the Memory Care Unit cat, and the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful care Verneil received.
