Amy Anderson , age 93 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Friday March 26, 2010 at Emmanuel Community in Detroit Lakes. She leaves to mourn her son Wayne, of Detroit Lakes, her sister Edith Paulson, of St. Paul, MN , and many nieces and nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jewell, and her brothers Roy and Boyd Danielson. Born in Holmesville Township of Becker County, Minnesota, May 8, 1916, Amy was the second child and first daughter of Fred and Selma (Magney) Danielson. She grew up in the Rochert area near Detroit Lakes, completed Grade 8 at the District 57 country school, and then attended high school in Detroit Lakes, graduating in the Class of chr(39)34. Amy married Jewell Anderson in July 1935 and son Wayne was born the following year. The couple farmed in various locales near Detroit Lakes over the years. Amy often recalled that they raised "a lot of turkeys." Amy and Jewell purchased a resort on Cotton Lake in the spring of 1958 and operated it for the next 28 summers. They spent their winters living and working at Winter Haven, Florida. When Jewell died in 1987, Amy returned to Minnesota, sold the resort, and resumed full time residence in Detroit Lakes. She moved to Emmanuel Community in the fall of 2007. Amy fell and broke several ribs early in 2010. Despite much pain and discomfort, she rallied her spirits and made a good recovery. She suffered a severe stroke on March 17 and died of complications ten days later. Throughout her long life, Amy had a keen interest in current affairs and stayed well abreast of world events. Devoted to her son Wayne, she also had many "children of the heart" and was like a second mother to many nieces and nephews. Amy is fondly remembered for her cheerful disposition and the way she focused on the lives of others rather than herself. She appreciated her times of good fortune and gracefully accepted adverse circumstances. Confirmed at Lund Lutheran in Richwood Twp. in1931, Amy remained active with the Lutheran Church all her life. She joined First Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes in 1947 and was a member for the next 63 years. Amychr(39)s family thanks the staff of Emmanuel Community for providing extraordinary care and a comfortable home for her final years.
