Elwin F. Adams, 83 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at VA Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota. Elwin was born on February 10, 1927, the son of Delbert and Lillie (Faulkner) Adams in the Toad Lake Township of rural Becker County. He attended country school until 8th grade. As a teenager, he left home to work on the Al Eean Farm near Spiritwood, North Dakota. Elwin entered the United States Army in 1945 and received training at Camp Roberts in California. He then went on to Massachusetts before flying to Gander, Newfoundland, where served as a military cook. Elwin returned to the United States by ship and received an honorable discharge in 1946. Elwin returned to work for Al Eean for many years. In the early 70chr(39)s he began working for Clyde Johnson in Park Rapids, brushing out power lines and also started to raise hogs. He continued in the hog business until retiring in 2004 due to ill health. Elwin then moved from his farm to live with his niece Twila and her family until his death. Elwin is survived by his brother, Cecil (Elenora) Adams of Detroit Lakes, MN; two sisters, Vera Lee of Spokane, WA; Margaret Pickett of Bovey, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Elwin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Earl and Kenneth, one sister, Grace Pickett.
