James D. Dahl age 81 of Detroit Lakes, MN formerly of Michigan, North Dakota died Thursday April 29, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes after a courageous battle with cancer. James Dahl was born on December 14, 1928 in Edmore, ND to Ole and Evelyn Johnston Dahl. He grew up and attended school in Michigan, ND, graduating from Michigan High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1950. He was stationed at the Spokane Air Force Base, where he served as a Military Policeman. Following his discharge he returned to Michigan, ND where he farmed until 1983. In 1983 he moved to Detroit Lakes, where he worked on the grounds crew at the Detroit Country Club for 26 years. James loved to hunt and spend time with his family. He is survived by three sisters; Jean (Dennis) Hopman, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Jacqueline Hopman, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Shirley (Albert) Binfet, of Elgin, ND, one brother; Dennis (Millie) Dahl, of Thief River Falls, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law, Pat Hopman.
