Marie Bergren age 97 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Monday May 17, 2010 at her residence. Marie Bergren was born on May 24, 1912 in Richwood Township, Becker County, MN to Theodore and Selma Syverson Tovson. She grew up and attended country school there. Marie was united in marriage to Leonard B. Bergren on May 24, 1930. They lived in Audubon, MN where Leonard was employed at the Audubon Co-op Creamery from 1929 to 1967. In the years that followed, Marie and Leonard owned and operated Dairy Queen stores in Iowa and Wisconsin. In 1970 they moved to the Minneapolis area to manage building and grounds maintenance at several senior apartment complexes. They retired in 1982 and moved back to Becker County, living in Detroit Lakes. Mariechr(39)s family has always been very important to her. She was always there for all of them. She was very active in church activities at First Lutheran Church in Audubon. She loved to sew, stitching of all types, and through the years has crafted an untold number of wonderful art work items. All of her family has heirloom treasures that she has made for them, including many special hardanger pieces. Hardanger became her favorite craft in her latter years. Marie is survived by two sons, Leonard Jr. (JoAnn) Bergren, of Park Rapids, MN; Dennis (Jeanne) Bergren, of Park Rapids, MN; two daughters, Beverly Torgerson, of Park Rapids, MN; Kathy (Jerome) Berg, of Watertown, MN; 18 Grandchildren, 42 great Grandchildren, 2 great great Grandchildren, and one sister, Esther (Donald) Jasch, of Detroit Lakes, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard (Feb. 22, 2004), Parents, three sisters, Viola Jensen, Myrtle Hanson, and an infant sister Marie, five brothers, Donald, Stanley, Oscar, Irvin, and Wallace Tovson, and one great Grandson, Eric Bergren.
