Roy S. Hanson, 86, Frazee, Minnesota, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Frazee Care Center, Frazee, Minnesota. Roy was born on August 10, 1923 to Nils and Caroline (Herberg) Hanson in the Lake Eunice Township of rural Becker County, Minnesota. Roy was raised and educated in the Lake Eunice Township area. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his service in the military, Roy returned to the Detroit Lakes area and drove truck for various trucking companies in the area. He later worked for the Mobile Gas Station and Northstar Dairy, before starting his career at Swift Company. Roy work at Swift from 1964 to 1989 as an engineer. During his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, avid Minnesota Twinsfan and word find puzzles. He was also active with his grandchildren and enjoyed helping them with their 4-H projects. He had a special connection with his children, not only as their father but also was the mother they never had. Roy will always be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather. Roy is survived by his son, Dennis Hanson of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Bonnie (Ernie Anderson) Danzeisen of Detroit Lakes, MN; Dawn "Cookie" (Don) Pechia of Rochert, MN; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Suzie) Danzeisen, Jody (Josh Moore) Pechia, Heather Hanson, Angela Pechia, Kelly Hanson, Brandon Pechia, Casey Hanson, Lindsey Anderson, Jessie Pechia; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Amella Bertram of Detroit Lakes, MN; several nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded by his parents, three brothers, Ivan, Louie and Harvey, six sisters, Johanna "Marie" Crosby, Julia Meath, Nanda Gobel, Guida Johnson, Emma Olson and Olga "Sally" Root.
