Mildred Lorraine Pielow was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on December 13, 1921 to Henry and Elvira Erickson. She was the youngest of 10 siblings. As a young child the family moved to south Minneapolis where they owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store. Millie graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. After graduation she worked at the family grocery store and a local bakery in the accounting department. She also worked as a model for Donaldsonchr(39)s Department Store in Minneapolis. Millie married Robert Seitz in 1944 and they had one child Richard Seitz. Robert was killed in action during WWII, shortly after the birth of their son. Millie married Ralph Pielow Jr. in 1954 and had two daughters and a son. Millie continued her accounting skills with her employment at the Curtis Hotel in Minneapolis and the Radisson Corporation, where she retired in 1984. Millie moved to Detroit Lakes in the summer of 1996 where she resided at the Pleasant View Apartments. She met many good friends at Pleasant View where she was involved with bingo, bake sales and pizza parties. She also enjoyed having card parties with her friends. In the summer of 2009 she was admitted to Oak Crossing due to her illness and she passed away peacefully on Saturday July 3, 2010 under the care of the nursing staff at Oak Crossing along with the care of Hospice. Millie was known to others as a caring person who always had a joke everyday to tell her friends. She will be remembered with her smiling face along with the humor she brought to everyone around her. She will be missed by many that she has touched over the past years. Preceding her in death are her parents, a son James Pielow, and nine siblings. She is survived by her son, Richard (Sharon) Seitz, of Orono, Minnesota; two daughters, Cheryl Chivers (David West), of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Linda Glaser, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
