Arthur L. Groth

Art Groth age 85 of Ogema, Minnesota died Monday July 26, 2010 at St. Marychr(39)s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Art Groth was born on November 19, 1924 in Ogema, MN to Arthur and Alice Somdahl Groth. He grew up and attended country school in rural Ogema, MN. He later graduated from Waubun High School. He worked on the family farm for many years before working on a custom combine crew that harvested grain throughout the Midwest. He also did combine work in Washington State, and California. When he wasnchr(39)t combining, he drove other farm equipment "? plowing, seeding, working with irrigation and various other tasks. He moved back to the family farm in 1966. On October 25, 1969 he was united in marriage to Eileen Jirava. Art continued farming and raising cattle on that farm for the next 40 plus years. Art loved to read and tell stories about his life experiences. He liked to visit with people and was genuinely interested in what they had to say. Most of all he loved the time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Melanie (Soren) West, of Callaway, MN; Melissa (Matt) Lanoue, of Waubun, MN; three sons, Steven (Kimberly) Stocks, of Princeton, CA; Erik Groth, of Ogema, MN; Ryan (Karen) Groth, of Ogema, MN; eighteen grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Harrington, of Hackensack, MN; Patty (Jack) Wingerter of Selah, WA; one brother, George (Charlotte) Groth, of Spokane, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Carsten and John Groth.
