Kent R. Nelson

Kent R. Nelson age 21 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Monday August 23, 2010 in Bozeman, Montana. Kent Nelson was born on April 17, 1989 in St. Louis Park, MN to David and Deanna David Nelson. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 2008. He was currently a student at Montana State University, where he served in the Reserve Officer Training Corp., was treasurer of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and was also an honor student. While at Detroit Lakes High School he was a member of the swim team. Kent was an artist. He also enjoyed snowboarding and playing bass guitar. He had a warm, loving open heart, and was always there for others. His smile would light up a room and people were naturally drawn to him. Kent is survived by his parents, one brother, Derek Nelson, of Detroit Lakes; one sister, Savannah Nelson, of Detroit Lakes; maternal grandparents, Ron and Barbara David, of Walker, MN; one niece, Alice Nelson; several aunts and uncles; and Godparents, Barry and Pearl Cervenka, of Bemidji, MN. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Marie Nelson.
