Stanley C. Opsahl age 79 of rural Audubon, MN died Saturday September 11, 2010 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Stanley Carroll Opsahl was born on June 18, 1931 in Barnesville, MN to Ole and Ragna Anderson Opsahl. He grew up and received his education in Barnesville, graduating from Barnesville High School in 1950. He was baptized and confirmed at the Little Bethany Church in rural Barnesville. Stanley served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. On June 21, 1960 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Wiegand in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Fargo. He attended the Wahpeton School of Science from 1961-1963, where he studied Design Drafting. Following his graduation he took a job in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he worked for Collins Radio. They later moved to Mankato, MN, where he worked for Telex/Amco. In 1967 they moved to Detroit Lakes and in 1969 moved to their current home on a farm south of Audubon, MN. Stan worked for the MN State Highway Department in Detroit Lakes. He later worked for Minkota Recycling until his health forced him to retire in 2002. Stan was an active member of St. Peterchr(39)s Lutheran Church since 1973, serving on the Church Council. Stan enjoyed his hobby farm very much. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, four sons, Dean Opsahl, of Moorhead, MN; Troy (Kelsey) Opsahl, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Wade Opsahl, of Fargo, ND; and David (Melissa) Opsahl, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one grandson, Connor Opsahl; two step grandchildren; Rachel and Mason Wentz; two sisters; Mildred Gobernatz, of Moorhead, MN; and Ruth (Orlie) Hellem, of Moorhead, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
