Helen Marcella Fugere, 88, of Detroit Lakes, MN died on September 13, 2010 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home. She was born on March 24, 1922 in Moorhead, MN to Ole and Sophia Lee LeGrand. Helen graduated from Moorhead High School and Moorhead State Teachers College. On October 21, 1967 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas Fugere, in Park Rapids, MN.Helen taught in the Fargo Public Schools at Roosevelt and Ben Franklin until retiring in 1984. She and her husband also owned and operated Tomchr(39)s Antique Shops in Fargo, ND and Detroit Lakes. Following their retirement, they made their home in Detroit Lakes. Helen loved her home on the lake and welcomed friends and neighbors in for coffee, cookies and a good visit -- always with her beloved poodles by her side. Helen never lost the desire to teach children, and in her retirement helped schoolchildren learn to read. She is survived by two brothers, Odis (Eunice) LeGrand, of Valley City, ND; Glenn (Marion) LeGrand, of Sioux City, IA; her best buddies "Muffin" and "Jolie" and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas (1999) and her sister, Arlene Thompson
