Marcella Lemmon, 95, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Diamond Willow in Detroit Lakes. Marcella was born on November 8, 1915, the second child of John and Flora (Blohm) Moechnig in Lake City, Minnesota. She attended rural school near the family farm through eighth grade and then later continued her education at St. Paul Agricultural School. She graduated from "Ag School" in 1936 and it was there that she met Thornton Lemmon. Marcella and Thornton were married on January 18, 1938 in Lake City. They farmed together, raising turkeys north of Detroit Lakes, until 1974. Marcella led a very active life. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, traveling, camping, canoeing, bowling, playing cards, dancing, reading, and winters in Mesa, Arizona. She greatly appreciated the Bakke Church Rebecca Circle that she was a part of for many years. But most of all, she loved being a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother and spending time with family and friends. Marcella is survived by one son, Roger (LaVonne) Lemmon, Watertown, South Dakota, two daughters, Carol (Rod) Nord, Rochert, Minnesota and Julie (Gary) Wolden, Pendleton, Oregon, eight grandchildren , Rebecca (John) Brandon, Roger Scott (Rhonda) Lemmon, Robert (Sarah) Lemmon, Jeffrey Nord, Randall Nord, Melissa (Cameron) Bailey, Andrea (Douglas) Walker, and Todd (Crystal) Wolden, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marie Blattner, St. Paul, Minnesota and Marjorie (Bill) Buehling, Dunsmuir, California, and one sister-in-law, Violet Lemmon, Detroit Lakes, and numerous very special nieces and nephews. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 72 years, Thornton, her sister, Marvel Sievers and an infant sister, Florence Moechnig.
