Carrie Sue Howe died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and loving family. Carrie was born May 17, 1964 in Fargo, ND to Thomas and Sharon (Hanbury) Howe. Her family moved to Minneapolis when she was 1 year old. The family also lived in Sauk Centre and Detroit Lakes. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1982. She participated on the swimming and golf teams. Carrie lived in Austin, Texas for 4 years and married Jhon Brinegar. They had one son, Phillip. She returned to Detroit Lakes and worked as a pharmacy technician at DL Pharmacy. She married Leonard Schwindt in Detroit Lakes and they had 3 children; William Madison and Benjamin. Carrie graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Nursing in 1996. She worked as a critical care nurse in Fargo, Detroit Lakes, Minneapolis, and most recently at the St. Cloud Hospital until ill health forced her retirement. She was a dedicated nurse and cared deeply for her patients. Carrie was a loving mother who enjoyed every minute with her children. Her favorite activities were flower gardening, dancing and summer fun at Toad Lake. She moved to Detroit Lakes in 2009 to be near family. Carrie is survived by children; Phillip Brinegar, William, Madison and Benjamin Schwindt; brothers, Steven (Shelly) Howe, of Edina, MN and Neil (Michelle) Howe, of Plymouth, MN; parents, Tom and Sharon Howe, of Frazee, MN; grandmother, Alma Hanbury, of Frazee, MN; nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friend and companion, Christian VonNeiderhausern. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Irvin and Minnie Howe and Gus Hanbury.
