Cecil S. Sundeen

Cecil S. Sundeen, 81, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN. Cecil was born on June 6, 1929 the son of John and Alice (Mastrud) Sundeen in Buxton, ND. Cecil was united in marriage to Agnes Swanke on July 26, 1952. They later divorced and Cecil married Dorina Lesher on March 27, 1982. He graduated from Hatton High School and enter the United States Navy on June 30, 1948, receiving an honorable discharge on September 15, 1950. He started his career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Moorhead. He later transferred to Tower City and Detroit Lakes, retiring in 1988. Cecil was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Eagles and the VFW. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, painting and volunteering for Meal on Wheels. Cecil is survived by his wife, Dorina Sundeen of Detroit Lakes, children, Cindy (Rahe) Clancy of Severna Park, MD; Candace (Kevin) Schwarzrock of Detroit Lakes, MN; Sheila (Jon) Amundson of Tacoma, WA; stepchildren, Colleen Melroe of Minnetonka, MN and Douglas Lesher of Hot Springs, SD; son-in-law, Darryl Stoen of Fargo, ND; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Deloris Renshaw of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law, Elaine Sundeen of Grand Forks, ND. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, son, Stanley Sundeen, daughter, Kim Stoen, brother, Allen Sundeen and brother-in-law, Dennis Renshaw. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church building fund.
