Kermit Milo Skogen passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, with his wife Beverly by his side at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Kermit most enjoyed his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. Some of his favorite ways to spend time included playing cards, tinkering in the garage, volunteering at First Lutheran Church, traveling with his wife to see family, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kermit devoted his life to his family and helping others. He retained his good humor and graciousness even through the end of his battle with cancer. Kermit was born November, 16, 1936, near Rollag, Minnesota, to Arthur and Rena (Huseby) Skogen. At age 17, Kermit met Beverly Theodorson and began their many years together. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1955. Kermit and Beverly married August 25, 1957, in Rothsay, Minnesota. They moved to Detroit Lakes and raised four children, in whom he took much pride. Kermit owned and operated his own service station, Skogenchr(39)s Standard, for many years. His business approach was to serve others, and he took great care in serving his customers and mentoring his employees. Kermit is survived by his wife, Beverly Skogen; his daughter, Kris Shaffer ; three sons, Brian (Geri) Skogen; Jon Skogen; Brad (Laura) Skogen; two brothers, Andy (LoAnn) Skogen; Cal (Dorothy) Skogen; sister, Corrine (Denny) Gilbertson; five grandchildren, Jill (Rey) Fuglestad, Heidi (Troy) Reisenauer, Patrick Skogen, Berit Skogen and Sorine Skogen; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Kermit is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Skogen. Memorials can be given to the First Lutheran Foundation
