Evelyn I. Moe

d. April 29, 2011

Evelyn I. Moe, 88, Detroit Lakes, formally of Lake Park, MN died Friday, April 29, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Evelyn was born on July 31, 1922, the daughter of Arnold and Anna (Bullert) Kaiser in Fargo, North Dakota. She moved to Ogema, Minnesota in 1923 with her family, where she was raised and educated. Evelyn married Carsten Moe on January 26, 1943 in Audubon, Minnesota. They farmed north of Lake Park, Minnesota, where they resided for thirty-six years. She was an active member of Atlanta Lutheran Church with Sunday school, ladies aide, circle and was also active with 4H. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, needle point, quilting, gardening of both vegetables and flowers. Together, Evelyn and Carsten won farmer and homemaker awards, conservation and tree planting awards working side by side. No job or chore was to small or to hard for Evelyn. After Carstenchr(39)s death on September 2, 1998, she moved into assisted living in Detroit Lakes. There was no greater joy to Evelyn then when her family came to visit, one or all, even just for a meal. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and in 2011 to become a great-grandmother. To her, family was all there is and was. She loved one and all equally. We will miss her and her love for us. Evelyn is survived by her children, Carol Moe of Burnsville, MN; Curtis (Rose) Moe of Princeton, MN; Jacquelyn (Jim) Lien of Nevis, MN; Nancy (Doug) Fern of Detroit Lakes, MN; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Molly) Fern, Michelle Orcutt, Jennifer (Reed) Engel, Chris (Alejandra) Orcutt, Matthew Lien, Charles Moe, Kirsten Moe and Jacques Lien; great-grandson, Carter Engel; three brothers, Arvid (Edith) Kaiser of Detroit Lakes, MN; Donald Kaiser and Eugene Kaiser both of Ogema, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carsten, sister, Deloris Zurn and brother, Ivan Kaiser.
