Hilda O. Nelson

Hilda O. Nelson age 81 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday May 17, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Hilda Otilda Nelson was born on June 19, 1929 in Height of Land Township of rural Detroit Lakes, MN to Bernard and Lena Noeske Wendt. She attended country school near her home and helped on the family farm. On April 23, 1950 she was united in marriage to Mervin O. Nelson in Detroit Lakes. They farmed in the Height of Land area until moving into Detroit Lakes in 1961. Hilda moved into the Lamplighter Manor in 2004 and has been a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home since 2006. Hilda enjoyed riding along with her husband Mervin on his trucking routes. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and the other residents at Emmanuel Nursing Home. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She is survived by two sons, Kevin (Jeannette) Nelson, of Burnsville, MN; Kenneth Nelson, of Fargo, ND; three daughters, Katherine (Paul) Pederson, of Moorhead, MN; Karen (Ted) Kopren, of Osseo, MN; Kay (Dale) Rotter, of Forks, WA; Eleven Grandchildren; many Great Grandchildren; two Brothers, Roman (Marian) Wendt, of Frazee, MN; Herbert Wendt, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Sister in Law, Rose Wendt, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin (2002); Parents; one brother, Reuban Wendt; two sisters, Mabel Spores and Lillian Wendt; and one Grandson, Matthew Pederson.
