George H. Wessels age 83 of Audubon, MN died Thursday May 19, 2011 at his residence. George Henry Wessels was born on December 9, 1927 in Le Mars, Iowa to Karl and Louise Beitelspacher Wessels. He grew up and attended school there. Following the death of his father, the family moved to Minnesota. On September 15, 1947 he was united in marriage to Alice Thom. They made their home in Edgeley and Fargo, North Dakota until moving to Audubon, Minnesota in 1960, where they farmed. They later sold the farm and moved to town. George worked for the Audubon School District as a bus driver and as Maintenance Supervisor, retiring in 1989. He worked the next 20 years mowing grass for the City of Audubon. He enjoyed making the city look nice. He was also blessed to be married to Mrytle Christensen for twelve years. George enjoyed visiting with his friends and working in his garden and flowers. He liked to see things grow. He was always happiest with he was helping others. The most important part of his life was his family and being able to spend time with them. He is survived by one daughter, Patsy (Glenn) Holmgren, of Audubon, MN; one son, Cliff (Shelley) Wessels, of New York Mills, MN; five grandchildren, Julie (Roy) Storsved, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kathy (Jeramie) Jacobson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Jenny Wessels, of Wadena, MN; Katie (Jon) Gussiaas, of Mohall, ND; and Karl Wessels, of Fargo, ND; four great grandchildren, Mikaela and Alex Storsved; Hannah and Ethan Jacobson; two brothers, Herbert Wessels, of Dazey, ND; and Larry (Bev) Wessels, of Wilmar, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice (1997); Parents; two brothers and three sisters.
