Iona V. Larson, 92, Detroit Lakes, formerly of Audubon, Minnesota died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Iona was born on August 23, 1918, the daughter of Swen and Liechen (Schlenner) Swenson in Jamestown, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Lake Park, Minnesota. Iona was united in marriage to Donald Larson on April 1, 1943 in Audubon, Minnesota. They made their home in Audubon. Iona worked as a cook for the Audubon Public Schools for many years. Iona enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping. Her baking ability was well known by her family and friends. Iona was the "best baker ever", especially when she baked her donuts. She also made sure no one left her home on an empty stomach. Iona will be missed by her family and her home baked goodies will also be missed. Iona is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Weets of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Don "Bomber" (Kathy) Larson, of Audubon, MN; six grandchildren, Marty (Jesse) Weets, Monica Weets, Wade (Shelley) Weets, Wendi Weets, Summer (Trent) Ovsak, Kasey (Kim) Larson; twelve great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kayla, Haley, Matthew, Cole, Jordan, Jasmine, Alexis, Sami, Kensie, Kolin and Kole; one sister, Vivian Wandersee of Detroit Lakes, MN; brother-in-law, Leonard (Lucille) Tollifson of Aberdeen, SD; sister-in-law, Teresa Larson of Moorhead, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Iona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald (1997), one grandson, Michael Donovan Larson.
