Bernice E. Evert age 97 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Wednesday June 29, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Bernice Elizabeth Evert was born on November 1, 1913 in White Rock, South Dakota to Fred and Christina Theisen Petersen. She grew up and attended country school in rural Wheaton, MN. On October 10, 1932 she was united in marriage to Edgar C. Evert. They made their home and farmed in rural Wheaton. In 1941 they moved into Wheaton. Four years later they returned to farming. In 1951 they moved to rural Frazee, MN. Bernice worked at Tuffychr(39)s in Perham, MN and later worked for nineteen years at the Swift Turkey Plant in Detroit Lakes. Shortly after Edgarchr(39)s death she moved into Detroit Lakes. She became a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home in 2006. Bernice enjoyed crocheting and was known for her sour cream raison pie. Bernice is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Raymond) Ellingson, of Doran, MN; Doris (Kenneth) Holt, of Detroit Lakes, MN; nine grandchildren, Becci (Dale) Schnaible, of Phoenix, AZ; Ginny (Ron) Hasbargen, of Breckenridge, MN; Wayne (Michelle) Ellingson, of Dallas, TX; Paul (Glenda) Ellingson, of Campbell, MN; Lorelei Holt, of Dilworth, MN; Sherry (Dan) Pederson, of Fargo, ND; Carmen (Perry) Nodsle, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Candace (Lance) Kaiser, of Otsego, MN; Lisa Littell, of Hitterdal, MN; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother, Merwin (Annabel) Petersen, of Breckenridge, MN; two sisters in law, Ethel Petersen, of Breckenridge, MN; and Marguerite Petersen, of Fergus Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar (1980); one daughter, Darlene Albro; one granddaughter, Dawn Holt; three brothers, Orville, Dale, and Robert Petersen; and one sister, Ardis Kuehn.
