Reier Bakken

Reier "Bud" Bakken age 84 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday July 8, 2011 at Essentia Health- Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Bud Bakken was born on September 21, 1926 in Hillsboro, North Dakota to Reier and Inga Haaland Bakken. They moved to rural Detroit Lakes when Bud was a young boy. He grew up and attended country school near his home. On February 28, 1951 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Pojar in Callaway, MN. They made their home and farmed in Richwood Township of rural Detroit Lakes. Bud and Charlotte worked side by side for many years on the farm. Bud enjoyed farming, milking cows, cutting wood, deer hunting, and his dog Teddy. He especially loved time spent with his Grandchildren. He was never one to complain and always had a smile on his face. Bud is survived by his wife Charlotte; two sons, Gary Bakken, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Richard Bakken, of Detroit Lakes, MN; three daughters, Yvonne (Mike Ahles) Bakken, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Pam (John) Gobel, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Sandra (Mark) St. Cyr, of Brooks, MN; and three grandchildren, Meghan, Samuel, and Courtney Gobel. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Geneva Eggum.
