Ed B. Rotenberger, 77, Detroit Lakes, MN passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, MN. Ed was born on August 26, 1933 in Enderlin, ND to Jacob and Barbara (Wittman) Rotenberger. He attended school in Lisbon, ND and furthered his education at NDSCS (Wahpeton) and NDSU (Fargo) receiving an Architectural Engineering Degree . Ed was united in marriage to Mary (Grothmann) at St. Johnchr(39)s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND, August 27, 1958. He served in the United States Army from 1958 "? 1960, stationed in Hawaii. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Fargo, before Ed and Mary moved to Detroit Lakes in 1964. Ed worked for Kegel Associates as an architect and later own and operated EBR Construction Consultants. Ed was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was instrumental in starting the Detroit Lakes Curling Club. Ed served as an admiral of the 1969 Northwest Water Carnival. He enjoyed woodcarving, playing golf and watching sports particularly football. He is survived by his spouse, Mary Rotenberger of Detroit Lakes, MN and their two children: Scott (Beatrice) and their children, Eric and Lauren of Redondo Beach, CA and Denise (Nick) Relich and their daughter Nicole of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by sisters: Frieda Hansen of Pacific, WA, Sarah Sutton of Waterloo, IA, Ilene Schlader of Oakes, ND and Beverly (Wayne) Jorgenson of Valley City, ND. His surviving brothers are Fritz of Lisbon, ND and Ted (Lois) of Henning, MN. He is survived by sisters-in-law: Lydia Rotenberger of Gwinner, ND, Jo and Mabel Rotenberger of Lisbon, ND. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Alex , Jack, Emmanuel and Vic Rotenberger, two sisters, Kate Finger and Elfie Schrampfer.
