Marilyn L. Morrison 56, rural Ogema, Minnesota, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn was born on December 18, 1954 to Louis and Norleen (Martodam) Schik in Perham, Minnesota. She was raised in Butler, Minnesota and graduated from New York Mills High School. Marilyn was united in marriage to Douglas Morrison on February 23, 1974 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Butler. They made their home on the Morrison family dairy farm in rural Ogema and a few years later started a logging business. Marilyn was able to stay at home and raise their children, which meant the world to her. As they grew older, she worked at Waubun High School as a secretary and cheerleader advisor. Marilyn was very active in the community of Ogema and Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Her passion in life was family, friends and community. She always made sure that everyonechr(39)s needs came first and always was willing to lend a helping hand. Marilyn knew the importance of family and spending time with her family, whether it was a family vacation or spending time together during the holidays. She made sure the family Christmas dinners, were special and no one left without a gift. She would coordinate all the family gatherings and events. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, photography, shopping, baking and cooking. For the last few years, Marilyn and Doug enjoyed road trips across the United States on their motorcycle. She will be remembered for her love and care she shared with her family and friends. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Doug Morrison of rural Ogema, MN; daughter, Angela (Hondo) Lehmann of Detroit Lakes, MN; two sons, Brad (Kelly) Morrison of Andover, MN; Chad (Jennie) Morrison of Waubun, MN; three grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole and Blane Morrison; siblings, Fr. Jerry Schik of Onamia, MN; Tom (Tammie) Schik of Hastings, NE; Julie (Mark) Carr of Barnesville, MN; Fr. LeRoy Schik of Battle Lake, MN; Eileen (Randy) Teberg of Argusville, ND; Paul (Nancy) Schik of Butler, MN; Mark (Doreen) Schik of Menahga, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
