Michael E. Mickelson

Michael E. Mickelson age 64 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday September 2, 2011 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Michael Mickelson was born on November 18, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Elsworth and Merriam Nordland Mickelson. He grew up and received his education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1965. In the summer of 1965 he started working for Moorhead Construction. On November 25, 1967 he was united in marriage to Kay Dahl. They made their home in Detroit Lakes. Michael continued working for Moorhead Construction until retiring in 2004. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, yardwork, gardening, and was an excellent cook and baker. He also enjoyed watching sports on T.V., especially NASCAR and Boxing. He is survived by his wife Kay; one brother, Lee Mickelson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one sister, Kandy (Jeff) Wheelden, of Vergas, MN; two nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mitchell Mickelson; and one nephew.
