John "Jack" E. Escherich, devoted husband, father, grandfather, 64, rural Lake Park, Minnesota, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 surrounded by his family at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Jack was born on January 15, 1947, the son of Richard and Eleanor (Calendar) Escherich in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He was raised and educated in Evergreen Park. As a young man, Jack served in the United States Army from 1966 "? 1968 as a mechanic and also did search and rescue missions while serving in Europe. Jack was united in marriage to Katherine Schueler on February 14, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois. Jack worked as a mechanic for Chrysler Dealerships throughout Illinois for seventeen years. They later moved to Tucson, Arizona where he managed the Pawnbroker Nightclub. A few years later, they returned to Evergreen Park, where Jack worked for Bleekers Bowling Alley and Soderland Brotherchr(39)s Heating and Air Conditioning. In 1992 they moved to rural Audubon, Minnesota and became owners of Campers Cove Campground on Leaf Lake. Jack enjoyed, fishing, the campground and was a "jack of all trades". He also enjoyed water skiing, bowling and working on his Corvettes during his younger years. He was also known as a history buff and had his opinions when it came to politics. Jack is survived by his wife, Kathy Escherich of rural Lake Park, MN; daughter, Debbie (Matt) Huseby of Audubon, MN; son, John (Renee) Escherich Jr. of Minot, ND; two grandchildren, BlakeLynn Escherich and Maddy Huseby; one brother, Richard (Lin) Escherich Jr. of Marion, IL; three sisters, Arlene (Bob) Dillion of Oak Forest, IL; Carol (Jim) Heine of Orland Park, IL; Jill Escherich; numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Art Escherich.
