Mary Elizabeth Fingalson, 99, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Mary was born on May 20, 1912 to John and Ella (Lund) Wallace in the Candor Township in rural Vergas, Minnesota. She attended country school in district 121 near Vergas and then she finished her schooling at Detroit Lakes High School. Mary was united in marriage to Alfred Fingalson on November 8, 1937 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where Mary worked for Northwestern Bell for thirty-four years, retiring in 1974. Mary was known for her delicious home baked apple pies and her signature plum and crabapple jelly. She enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially with her granddaughter, Robin and eventually those precious moments with her great-granddaughter, Elina. Mary is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Leon "Bob") McGinley of Ottawa , Ontario, Canada; son, Marvin DuWayne "Dewey" Fingalson of Detroit Lakes, MN; granddaughter, Robin (Robert Mark) McGinley of Oujechr(39)-Bougoumou, Quebec, Canada and great-granddaughter, Elina Mark; brother, Harold Wallace of Vergas, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred (2006), four brothers, Robert, William, Warren and Ernest Wallace, sister, Bessie Wilke.
