Pastor Charles E. Nethercott age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday November 8, 2011 at Essentia Health St. Marychr(39)s Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Charles Nethercott was born on August 18, 1921 in Clear Creek, Ontario, Canada to Wilfred and Carrie Kelly Nethercott. He grew up on a dairy farm the oldest of six children. He attended country school and worked on his fatherchr(39)s farm. In 1939 he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. In 1940 he enrolled as a student at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta. In 1942 he joined the Army in Calgary, Alberta. On April 11, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ruth Eliason. He then served in England from 1944-1946 in the Army Medical Corp. Following his discharge from the Army he returned to Prairie Bible College, where he graduated from in 1949. He served as Pastor in numerous churches in Canada and the United States for 52 years, retiring in 2001. He served as the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes from 1980-1986. He then served as the Visitation Pastor from 1993-2001. Charles is survived by two daughters, Judy (Jim) Knoll, of Pelican Rapids, MN; and June (David) Hennings, of Greenwood, Nebraska; three sons, David (Diane) Nethercott, of Fulton, New York; James (Debra) Nethercott, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Paul (Nancy) Nethercott, of Tokyo, Japan; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Alma (George) Stone, of Ontario, Canada; two brothers, Murray (Marilyn) Nethercott, of Ontario, Canada; and Frank Nethercott, of Naples, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Ruth (2001); daughter, Margaret Mosher; two brothers, Harold and Stewart Nethercott; and his parents.
