Charles S. Svare age 81 of Audubon, MN died Saturday Nov. 12, 2011 at his sonchr(39)s residence in rural Audubon, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Charles Svare was born on June 5, 1930 in Pelican Rapids, MN to George and Signe Johnson Svare. He grew up and attended elementary school in Vergas, MN. He graduated from Frazee High School in 1949. As a young man he worked for Franklin Fence, and Fankhanelchr(39)s Bar in Vergas, as well as Daggett Trucking in Frazee and Detroit Grocery in Detroit Lakes. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1951-1956. In 1955 he started his career with the State Highway Department in Detroit Lakes. On April 14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Meyhoff at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. He retired from the Highway Department in 1990. Charles served as a union representative for the State Employees Union for many years. He also served on the church council at St. Peterchr(39)s Lutheran Church of Audubon, MN. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and time spent with his family. Charles is survived by his wife Evelyn, three sons, Charles Svare, of Burnsville, MN; Timothy (Brenda) Svare, of Iron, MN; and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Svare, of Audubon, MN; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor (Donald) Luebeck, of Ramsey, MN; Charlotte (Henry) Woitzel, of Gardner, ND; and Joyce (Al) Woitzel, also of Gardner, ND; several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
