Gloria A. Mattson age 80 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Thursday December 1, 2011 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND. Gloria Allyce Mattson was born on December 25,1930 in Breckenridge, MN to Gustav and Mathilda Guderian Martens. She grew up and attended school in Wolverton, MN, graduating from Wolverton High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Leslie Alm in 1950 in Wolverton, MN. They farmed near Christine, ND and later near Wolverton, MN. In 1966 they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where she worked at Mayerons Clothing Store and Montgomery Wards. She was united in marriage to Edwin Mattson in 1979 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes. Gloria worked at St. Marychr(39)s Nursing Home for 20 plus years and later worked at the Senior Nutrition Center in Detroit Lakes. Gloria was a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and also was a member of the DAV Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, reading, gardening, knitting, and crafts. She was survived by her husband Edwin; one daughter, Janet Longfors, of Park Rapids, MN; one son, Warren (Cate) Alm, of Marengo, IL; two stepdaughters, Karen (Jim) Christiansen, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Elaine (Tom) Mack, of Detroit Lakes, MN; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Leslie Alm (1974); one daughter in law, Rose Alm; and two sons in law, John Longfors and Rodney Olson.
