Hazel was born May 12, 1920, to Henry and Ida (Sanden) Anderson in Walworth Township, MN. She grew up on the farm and those years created in her a love for nature, animals, and growing things. In 1927, her beloved brother Harry was born. Hazel lived in Detroit Lakes and moved as a young woman to the Twin Cities during WWII, working as a waitress and cook. During that time her father passed away and in 1947, Harry died in Germany. Although their family was then only two, her extended family was large and very close. Later, she met and married Albert Murray and welcomed into her life and her heart his two little girls, Linda and Barbara. After his death in a car accident in 1960, she adopted the girls and raised them with all the love and care any child could hope for. She taught us to love reading and learning, to cook, to sew, to love the outdoors, to garden, to care for animals, but most of all, to be responsible, independent and loving adults. We will love you and miss you forever, Mom. In 2007, Hazel moved to Sunnyside Care Center where she resided until her death. We are very grateful for the wonderful care she received from the staff and the friendship offered to her by the residents there. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Vern) Boyer of Laurel, Montana, Barbara Murray of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and two grandchildren, Greg of Aurora, Colorado, and Krista, of Belgrade, Montana. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
