Roger W. Westgard

Roger W. Westgard age 74 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Thursday January 19, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Roger Warren Westgard was born on April 30, 1937 in Frazee, MN to Nels and Mary Anderson Westgard. He grew up on the family farm and lived with his parents. After his parents died Roger lived in various area nursing homes before becoming a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home where he lived for the next 30 years. Roger worked at the Becker County Developmental Achievement Center in Detroit Lakes for many years. Roger enjoyed visiting with others and telling stories over a good cup of coffee. He also enjoyed listening to the radio and chewing his Coppenhagen. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and his brother in law Red Hanson, of Detroit Lakes, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, and eleven siblings, Olaug (Pete) Anderson, Art Westgard, Axel Westgard, Mabel (Joe) Vogt, Nellie (Lowell) Cary, Blenda (Floyd) Anderson, Margie (Hank) Anderson, Andy (Charlotte) Westgard, Edna Westgard, Elvina Hanson, and Helen (Swante) Coleman.
